Sometimes growth isn’t about adding more — it’s about letting go. Fall seems like the perfect time to do just that. I’m learning to release what no longer serves me and embrace and make space for what truly feels good.

3 Things I’m letting go of (And why it feels so damn good!)
1. Perfection
I’m done chasing flawless — in workouts, meals, and life. Progress feels better than perfection ever did. I’d rather show up imperfectly than get stuck waiting for the “perfect” moment that never comes.
2. Overdoing Cardio
I used to think more sweat meant more success. Now I know balance is the real flex. I’m choosing strength, rest, and movement that energizes me — not exhausts me. I am training for the rest of my life.
3. Saying Yes to Everything
I’m a recovering people pleaser and letting go of that part of me means setting boundaries and saving my energy for what matters most. I’m learning that “no” can be a form of self-care.
✨Here’s to less pressure, more presence, and trusting that letting go can be the best way to grow. What are you letting go of this fall?

I definitely struggle with saying no. But its important to keep boundaries and do the things you want to do!
This got a lot easier for me as I’ve aged
I love this, Deborah – especially your point about overdoing cardio. I still need to find that better balance myself – it’s so easy to slip into the “more is better” mindset. I’m getting there, though… slowly learning that strength and recovery count just as much. I remember how you said a few days ago that with running less, your body has much less pain in the mornings – that’s my goal!
It is a process for sure!
This sounds very healthy.
I’ve been letting go of the yes and the people pleasing.
it is not easy but definitely feels good!
This is solid! Saying NO is so tough! That’s something I’ve been working as well. Total work-in-progress…
It is not easy to do! Feels pretty amazing though
Deborah, it’s like you wrote this post just for me. Yes, to all three! I say this of course as I’m reading your post just after finishing a long ride on my spin bike. I have a cycling mileage goal for 2025, but plan to set no such goal in 2026. My only saving grace is that I NEVER compromise or skip my strength training because of my longer cardio sessions.
I’m still working on that needing perfection and people pleaser parts…
For me, I’ve just learned that excessive cardio just wears me down more than it helps me at this stage in my life. Keeping up with strength is the key to aging well for sure! Saying no is not easy but it does feel good!
Yes to all of this! I was always a people pleaser too and sometimes it’s still hard to stand up for myself and say no.
But it feels so good when we do!
