      • You may have seen some of posts earlier this week where I’ve mentioned losing my mojo and feeling a little unmotivated. Well nothing like signing up for a bunch of fall races to get me back on track right?!
      • The DC Area has so many fall races it is hard to narrow it down but here’s what I’ve come up with so far.
      • Run 10 Feed 10– October 10th-Georgetown. As part of my role as a Women’s Health Action Hero, I am helping to promote the Run 10 Feed 10 races & fun runs. The DC location is an untimed fun run through Georgetown. Your registration fee provides 10 meals to those in need in the area. When you can use your passion to help others, it is a win win. I’d love for you to join me. (Use code WHBROOKS for a $5 discount)
      •         2. Run For the Parks 10k-November 1 in West Potomac Park. I did this race last year with all my      MRTT mamas and we had a blast even though we had some sort of arctic wind situation going on. Last year they gave out half zips instead of shirts which was nice.
      • 3. Girls on The Run 5k (November 21)- I am excited to be coaching a new middle school program this fall for GOTR (more on that later) and our fall 5k is always such an exciting day for all the girls. By the way, you do not have to be in the program to run the races.
      • 4. Jingle All The Way 5k (December 6th) This could be the race I am most excited for! You may have seen my post last week-I am coaching my hubs to run this one with me and my son. I’ve always loved this race and now it will be extra special.
      • 5. I don’t have a 5th one yet but on my bucket list for next fall is Ragnar Napa Valley. How much fun does that sound? A little wine tasting, spa going and oh yeah running at ridiculously strange hours. I do love my Ragnar races!
  • Which Fall Race are you most excited for? Do you like holiday themed races?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Ragnar Napa Valley! That sounds awesome. If you need to put a team together keep me in mind. An event like that could actually inspire these legs to get running again.

Fall is a great time to race, and recently during this marathon training heat wave, I cant stop thinking about 5k turkey trots!

I do love fall races! It is like my reward for running and sweating all summer! I am signed up for the Diva’s race in St Augustine in Dec (5K), I have not signed up for anything else yet. I have an appt Tuesday with an ortho to look at my big toe 🙁 once I get his opinion I can plan the rest of my fall! We do a jingle run here too and it is always fun! I hope the hubby training is going well! See you in the morning for coffee!

You have had some foot issues lately huh? Yes waiting for it to feel like fall. 93 yesterday!

There really are a ton of Fall races in this area! I’m surprised at how many I keep seeing. And Ragnar Napa Valley sounds like it will be amazing!

I LOVE any type of themed race! When I lived in Philadelphia there were a ton (especially a lot of local, themed, 5Ks) and I miss them! Napa Valley Ragnar… sign me up! Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2015 at 9:58 am

Well I just might sign you up if I can’t find enough runners 🙂

  7. Lesley says

I’m good for anything Napa but the hills! I saw so many hills when I was there.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2015 at 10:00 am

Oh hills- we just need to embrace them!

  8. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    09/04/2015 at 10:20 am

I’m Jewish, so the holiday themed ones don’t matter that much to me. Although I do love Last Run, which is through the holiday lights so there you go.

I’m not sure I’d like Ragnar — I like my sleep & I’d feel like I was slowing everyone down — but even though I don’t drink, I do like Napa. So pretty. I think about that half for my half in CA but then there is sooooo many in CA!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2015 at 12:17 pm

I wore a hannukkah outfit last year to jingle all the way!!

      • Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

        09/04/2015 at 2:46 pm

So what did you go as? Inquiring minds need to know!

I never do costumes. Even as a kid I wasn’t much into them.

        • Deborah Brooks says

          09/04/2015 at 4:41 pm

We made decals that said “moms light up this town” with menorah’s on them. It was really cute. We had to represent among all the santas 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2015 at 12:19 pm

Lots of people are doing Philly this year. Supposed to be really fun. You would love Ragnar 🙂

Ragnar Napa Valley – I’m pretty sure I would actually run that 🙂 Sounds amazing!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2015 at 12:19 pm

ok great I will remember you said that if we need extra runners!

  11. Sarah says

    09/04/2015 at 12:05 pm

FUN! I love fall races! The only problem is we have a couple we LOVE doing as a family that fall on the same day. With the one being a building race that increases in length every year it is getting too tight to do them both. I’m still stuck on what to do this year….

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2015 at 12:22 pm

So many races so little time!

  12. Heather@hungryforbalance says

    09/04/2015 at 12:24 pm

How cool is it that you are going to be a Girls on The Run coach! I can’t wait to hear more about that! I have never done a Holiday themed race, but they seem like they would be so much fun!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2015 at 4:35 pm

I love GOTR it will be my 4th season coaching it’s the best.

Great list as always Deborah. I love the sound of the Run 10 Feed 10. Sounds like a good race that also serves a good purpose. I love Christmas time, so the Jingle All the Way sounds right up my alley, just because.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      09/04/2015 at 4:38 pm

Maybe you will join me at the run 10 feed 10? Should be lots of fun for a great cause

        09/04/2015 at 7:56 pm

Maybe next year. This time around I will be celebrating my daughter’s 4th birthday with some princesses and the mouse.

    • Deborah Brooks says

I love fall races. There are some great ones in November here – the Malibu 1/2 and full marathon. GORGEOUS views the entire race.
Also in November – Santa Barbara 1/2 and full. Also beautiful.
We have a big Christmas race here that fills up super fast. The Venice/Santa Monica 5k/10k. I love seeing everyone run in their Christmas attire!!
