    • Happy Friday five everyone! As you probably know, I am off running my Ragnar race today but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to honor Mother’s Day. You all know how much I love my MRTT mamas everyday but especially on this weekend. I crowdsourced with them and came up with a few fun answers as to why “Runners Make the Best Moms”
    • I’m joining the fabulous DC Trifecta-Cynthia, Mar and Courtney for their Friday Five link up.
  • 1. We always have snacks in our cars and bags and basically anywhere we can stash them.
  • 2. We teach our kids that with lots of hard work you can achieve your goals. Sometimes we win but often times we don’t and that’s ok. We get back up and do it again.
  • 3. We are always ready to go the extra mile.
  • 4. We aren’t afraid to get sweaty and dirty.
  • 5. We know some days feel like a sprint but motherhood is an ultra marathon and we are in it for the long run.
    • Just a quick one from me today! I will be back next week with all the scoop from Ragnar.
  • How are you all celebrating Mother’s Day? Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Some very good points here! My boys have been involved in my activities, too. They’ve periodically gone to races with me, early morning track workouts, and bike rides. My oldest is a reasonably competitive middle distance runner in track. So glad I’m able to enjoy the active lifestyle with them.

I love this list! All too often I feel guilty for running, like I’m being selfish and abandoning my child. But I know that running makes me a better mom. We all need to take time for ourselves, to help keep us healthy and sane! That and the snacks always make everything better.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/09/2015 at 12:28 am

We do need time for ourselves too. I think that shows our kids we value ourselves and our health. Thanks for stopping in!
