Dreaming Of Cherry Blossoms

Well winter has not yet begun but I am Dreaming of Cherry Blossoms today…10 whole miles of them at the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 mile race. A few months ago, I applied to be one of the 4 race ambassadors for this iconic DC race and was ecstatic to find out that I was chosen this year. I could not be more excited! I will be documenting my training along with these 3 other ambassadors starting in January. (Dale , Laetitia-Laure, and Sarah Beth)

Dreaming of Cherry Blossoms…

Dreaming of Cherry Blossoms

The Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 mile race will be held on April 8, 2018 and starts right in front of the iconic Washington Monument in heart of Washington, DC. Way back in 2008, The Cherry Blossom 10 miler was my first long distance race ever. That day, I woke up to a torrential down pour of epic proportions. I knew nothing back then about running in the rain much less running 10 miles in the rain. My shoes were full of water, my feet blistered and my hair sopping wet. All I could think as I crossed that finish line was, “now I am a real runner”. I’ve learned a few things the last ten years and this April I will run my 7th Cherry Blossom 10 miler.

Who wants to run @CUCB 10 miler with me this April? Lottery opens Dec 1 #CUCB2018

Cherry Blossoms a few days before the race

With over 16,000 runners, the Cherry Blossom has become a rite of spring for runners from all over the country. With views of the famous Cherry Blossom trees, Washington Monument, Kennedy Center, Watergate and the The Memorial Bridge it’s a quintessential must do DC race for any runner.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

My first Cherry Blossom was 2016 where it was snowing and I DNS because I was so afraid of the weather. So this year was my first and last of running this race. It is a beautiful run but it seems that the weather never cooperates.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/15/2017 at 9:11 am

the weather can be a little tricky. 2016 was a very cold year but most years we are in the 50’s for that time of year
