Sunday I went out for a nice 6 mile run with my MRTT group. I truly look forward to and love my runs with them! Even if I am tired or not in the mood, I always find energy once I get chatting with them.

Monday-I warm up for 30 min on the elliptical and then saw my trainer for an hour of weights & abs. Always a hard workout. He really motivates me to push past my comfort zone. Didn’t get a good pic but we used this:

Wednesday is one of my favorite workout days! I do an hour and half of kick boxing and weights with my trainer. It’s such a hard workout and I love the feeling of dripping with sweat afterwards. I have a hard time pushing myself to the point that he can push me. This week we hit some rope exercises afterwards. I seriously thought my arms were going to fall off.

Thursday– I ran with my MRTT group again today. Love these ladies! It got pretty hot out there but they keep me going. We have lots of fun trying to take selfies before each run-goofy I know

Thursday night once a month our group joins in with the Road Runner Sports Run Like A Girl series. Despite the rainy weather, we had a great turnout last night. Recovery drinks Mad Fox brewery- Fun!

A Mizuno Rep was on hand tonight to let us test out the Sayonara 2 on our run-what a fun treat!

Friday– Today is a workout at home day with 45 min on the elliptical followed by a “6 minute 6 pack” quick abs routine and a stretch. This Mother Runner is off to the Nordstrom sale today. A girl’s gotta look cute for all of these photo shoots!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I really miss working out with a trainer. I just love the motivation of it and the performance-aspect of having some one sit there tell you what to do, and pushing you. And watching you like a hawk, lol.
I’m HOPING my favorite workout of the week will be happening tomorrow with my long run, but we shall see!

Yes he is a great motivator and doesn’t care if you’re not in the mood! Good luck with the long run. Happy Friday

I really love working out with my trainer too – holds me accountable and pushes me in a healthy way (otherwise I would prob go at it 80%). Ooooh Nordstroms Anniversary Sale… must.go.online 🙂

      07/11/2014 at 8:49 am

Yes same for me with the trainer. Yes online Nordstrom shopping works too!

my fave workout this week was my 5km lunchtime run. its the first time I put my running shoes on at work and ran around the neighbourhood here. It was a nice way to clear my head and made me work harder for the last part of the day! X

      07/11/2014 at 8:50 am

That’s great that you can get out and sweat it out during lunch. Thanks for stopping by have a great weekend!

OMG. I NEED that tank top. Look Human, I’m guessing? Need. NEED.
I’m finding my favorite thing about running with a group is having people to recover with – I always get the runger and it’s way more satisfying to chow down post-run with other people who just went through the same hell- I mean, enjoyable sporting activity as I did. I hadn’t heard of Road Runner Sports’ running groups – learn something new about this area every day.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/11/2014 at 3:05 pm

Yes I just ordered it! LOL Yes always fun to hang with the group post run too! Glad you have a group of friends to run and hang with too. Makes all the difference

  6. Tara @ Running 'N' Reading says

Deborah, I DEFINITELY believe that sweating while you shop counts as exercise; love that you including that picture! Your group looks super-fun and it’s so nice to see that you all hang out together after your run; running folks are my family. 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/11/2014 at 3:02 pm

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/12/2014 at 4:55 pm

They are very different than my Asics Kayanos and prob not enough stability for me. It was fun to try them out though

WE have a run group that meets here on Wednesday evenings at one of my favorite wine bars- I look forward to it every week! The rain has been brutal here so if I have to miss it I am really bummed. WE did get in a quick couple miles this week then a nice glass of wine! You had a very busy week!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/12/2014 at 4:54 pm

    07/12/2014 at 10:05 am

I just started running with a group on my Sunday morning runs and it is such a nice change from having to run by myself. Knowing someone else is waiting for me and counting on me to show up than I know I have no excuses and have to get up and going on sunday mornings!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/12/2014 at 4:51 pm

Absolutely that’s the best part!! Have a great run with them tomorrow morning 🙂

    07/12/2014 at 1:40 pm

Looks like a great week! Is all of that gym equipment in your house or do you go to a gym with your trainer?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/12/2014 at 4:49 pm

I have a gym in my basement that I’ve built up over the years. It’s really great and convenient so I don’t have any excuses

  17. Chaitali says

    07/12/2014 at 6:57 pm

Lol… I love the shirt with the saying about selfies! And I agree with the pushing yourself thing, I can never push myself as hard as other people do.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/13/2014 at 7:20 am
