Friday Five 4th of July Edition

The ever popular Friday Five  from the DC Trifecta Cynthia, Mar & Courtney is going patriotic today!

1. It’s a great reason to pull out all of your patriotic gear-when else do you wear this stuff?

Here is my race day outfit from this morning. IMG_2038

2. Holiday races tend to bring out families-runners young and old, fast and slow. I convinced my son to run with me today and he hates running. Pretty much anyone can do them. There tends to be a much more relaxed, less competitive feel which is a nice change to larger, longer distance runs.

3. 4th of July reminds us that we do live in the best country ever. It’s important to remind our children and ourselves that men and women fight for our freedoms everyday.

4. Meeting up with members from other MRTT chapters for big group pics before races is so much fun! We missed the group pic today but did get one with a friend

5. Your workout is done by 8:30 am and you are free to lounge at the pool and hang with your family!

Hope you all enjoy your 4th of July today! Anyone else racing? How do you show off your patriotic side today?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

You are right we do live in the BEST country ever. I went to the gym instead of a race and she made sure we got our workout in before indulging. I tried to party like a rock star – clearly I am no rock star. I was ready for bed by 9 pm. LOL
