Groundhog Day Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. While last week sure did feel like Groundhog day, this week really is Ground hog day. When will we get out of the deep freeze?! Here’s a peek into my week.

Groundhog day weekly run down

Sunday-tread walk + core + stretch

Yes, it’s still freezing and super windy thus today’s walk was again on the tread mill. I have  jumped into the daily core challenge via Peloton. Join me if you’d like. Each day has 5-10 minute classes by a variety of instructors. Later, I met some friends for coffee.

Monday-45 min tread hike + core + cycle class

Groundhog day for real! We did not need the little ground hog to come out to tell us it’s still full on winter. Today’s 45 min hiking class was tough in a good way. I followed that with a standing core class and then jumped onto the Peloton for a 30 min class. If you have not done Tunde’s Magic Mike Live class yet, it is quite amusing. Who knew this was coming to broadway?! Hmmm

groundhog day

Tuesday-core + full body strength + tread walk

Why yes it does seem like groundhog day again! today’s 45 minute full body strength was tough and I think my glutes will feel them tomorrow. These offset reverse lunges were killer!

weekly run down

Wednesday-core + power walk

Well, it was a balmy 31 degrees this morning and I had to get outside! The sidewalks and many of the streets are still icy. I was just so happy to get out with my weighted vest again. My Gortex Brooks Ghosts helped a lot!

weekly run down

Thursday-45 min full body strength + outdoor power walk

yup, it’s still cold and we are all sill not happy about it! I know the weekend will be worse so I headed out for another power walk. Later, I headed over to visit my parents for a few hours.

weekly run down

Friday- tread bootcamp + core

Finishing off a strong week with a hiking bootcamp. I love these efficient workouts alternating the tread and strength. Later, I was off for a mani pedi Valentines style.

weekly run down

Saturday-core and stretch

A planned rest day for me with my daily core and longer stretch. I am not a fan of our current weather! I did not need a groundhog to tell me it was still winter! But it was the perfect night for ramen!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Good job on getting outside while you could! Last week’s weather was brutal for us and this weekend sounds even worse! I’m glad I’m south of the cold in sunny Florida! Stay warm!

Amazingly, our local groundhog, Woodstock Willie, did not see his shadow–let’s hope he’s right! The upcoming week looks like a thaw. Which, of course, means mud on the trails, lol. There’s no winning this time of year! It looks like you made the best things, getting outside in the sunshine!

I forgot about Groundhog day since I was traveling, but it sure does feel like it with day after day of cold.

Good for you for getting outside. I did make my group walk to diner in Boston — probably 3/4 mi each way and it felt good!

I did a short hike class in the hotel gym and it was good. I’m not sure I can get rid of my running goals, but maybe after LHH in May I can do more hiking classes.

    Love your mani look!

I saw you tried the hiking classes. They are a great workout to add in on a non run day

Ha, I can just picture all you northerners scowling angrily at Puxatawny Phil. Thank goodness for indoor options! I LOVE your nails, so cute. And, I’m glad you got outside for a couple days before the next freeze sets in.

I’m just shaking my head at the fact it’s SO much colder everywhere but Iowa (I’m probably jinxing things for my area with that statement). My forecast is showing 58F for tomorrow afternoon!

Hopefully you will get a break from the cold and snow soon! Good to have your Peloton workouts to keep you going! I don’t have my Peloton membership any more or I would join you for the core challenge. I’ve been slacking (and enjoying ski vacation too much haha).
    Your nails are very festive!

Brrr, it’s still so cold where you are… and I ran in capris and t-shirt this weekend.

I have not done the Magic Mike Ride yet LOL but have heard much about it.
Who is doing the Daily Core Challenge? I hadn’t heard about it. Sounds like a great streak for February!
