Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. Happy new year and happy and healthy 2026 to you all. We spent another week here in paradise with the family and are now back home until next time Aruba. Well-there was a slight SNAFU…

Happy New Year Weekly Run Down
Sunday-4 mile walk on he beach + core
We are now on the other side of the island where the kids call the “fun side”. All the big hotels are here and lots more restaurants and things to do. I took a nice morning walk along the beach and grabbed a smoothie from my favorite place.

that evening, we went to a fun sports bar which is always filled with Philadelphia Eagles fans. It’s fun to watch your team pull off a last minute win with a crowd of others cheering along.
Monday-4 mile beach walk
I’m really enjoying my long morning walks along the beach listening to Peloton classes and Podcasts. It was a chill afternoon finishing my 3rd book.
Tuesday-snorkeling day
After my morning walk, we hopped onto a catamaran boat for a fun few hours of snorkeling and sailing around the island. We all had a lot of fun, saw lots of colorful fish and turtles frolicking.

It only took 6 takes but I got everyone to cooperate and smile with their eyes open for my yearly family new year’s photo.

Wednesday-morning power walk + core
I guess it’s a sign of a good vacation when you forget what day it is!! Ha. Same lovely walk this morning before heading out to celebrate the new year on the beach with dinner and fireworks. They sure do love their fireworks here!

Thursday-morning walk + core
I stayed up way too late and got a very late stat to my walk and it was hot! I may have treated myself to some frozen Greek yogurt on the way back.

Once a Hoosier Mama always a Hoosier fan! We had fun watching Indiana University crush Alabama and make it one step further to the championship game. (both of my kids graduated from IU).
Friday-morning walk + core
I cannot really remember what I did today! That must be a sign of a good vacation.
Saturday-Travel home full body strength and core + walking
Did you know that Aruba is only 10 miles from Venezuela? YUP! We awoke to find out our flights were cancelled and the entire US airspace in the area is closed. Alas, we will be forced to spend some more time in Aruba….

Enjoy your extra time in Aruba! And no, I had no idea that Aruba is only ten miles from Venezuela. You learn something new every day!
BTW, I thought of your kids while Indiana was running all over Alabama!
Yes we are all very excited for IU!
Not a bad place to be stranded! I have to admit that I wasn’t exactly sure where Arubu was. Enjoy your extra time in paradise!
It is not the worst place to be in January!
Oh, wow, I didn’t realize you were so close to Venezuela. I hope you get home soon, but maybe you’re in no hurry!
Great job on the family photo!
I’m craving hot coco more than fro yo up here!
Yes super close but all is good!
I hope you get home safely soon! What a lovely family picture to treasure.
We will be home in a few days!
You seem to be enjoying some good relaxing times in Aruba! That’s scary about being so close to Venezuela though. Do they know how long the airspace will be closed? I hope you get home safely! In the meantime, enjoy those beaches and I hope everything remains safe.
We are totally safe here and the airspace is now open but there is a backlog for flights. We will get home eventually!
Well, at least it’s nice and warm where you are! My daughter got stranded in Chicago last week on her fiasco of a return trip after the holidays, LOL. What a great pic of the family 😉 That was a great win for the Hoosiers!!!!
Yes there have been a lot of weather delays as well. A few extra days here are ok! Go Hoosiers!
Fabulous vacation as per usual Deborah but… kind of scary what is going on at the moment! you could be stuck in worse places but I do hope you are safe and stay that way until you can get home.
WE are totally safe here! Not the worst place to get stuck!
Oh man, I guess there are worse places to be stuck than Aruba! I hope you make the best of it. The photos are all so fun. Happy New Year!
There are certainly worse places to be stuck!
What gorgeous photos. It is sooo grey and snowy here, that I’m salivating looking at the blue skies and sand! But oh boy, how scary to be so close to Venezuela and have it impact flights! Wow. Hopefully you make it home safe soon – but can enjoy some extra time while you’re there!
We are totally safe here! Fights got backed up on a busy travel weekend and we were forced to enjoy a few more days of vacation
Happy New Year!
I was wondering if you got out in time, but hopefully you are en route now.
What a mess.
Beautiful family photo!
It’s totally fine we are completely safe here and enjoying a few more days of forced vacation
