If we were having coffee today, I would tell you…

I tried my first Bulletproof coffee this week! Made with clarified butter and coconut oil, I was a little skeptical on how it would taste. Completely surprised that I really enjoyed it. Not sure I would spare the time to make it in the morning for myself but might get it again out on a coffee date.

This spring season of Girls on The Run is just flying by again. In just 2 weeks our 60 girls and 10 coaches will be running our 5K along with hundreds of other 3-6th grade girls. It’s always such a fun and empowering day for them and a wonderful way to end the season.

Our “Moms Do It All Night Long” team is back in for Ragnar Napa Valley this November. You might remember the race was cancelled last year due to the California fires. Our first team meeting is today. Let the fun planning begin!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

My first sprint triathlon of this season is tomorrow. How did that come up on my so quickly? I am ignoring the fact that rain is in the forecast. No one likes to bike in the rain. In my post yesterday, I reminded myself that there is no sense stressing over things I cannot control. Still trying to decide which tri suit to wear.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Last week I saw a little girl in clinic who was sick and so upset that she was going to have to miss her Girls on the Run! I hope you realize how much these little girls love this program. I love that you are involved with it.

Good luck today on your tri–I can’t wait to hear all about it!!! Both outfits look like a winner to me.

We can have coffee when you’re all done!

I know that the girls are really invested in the program and it just makes my heart warm. Race is Tomorrow and the weather is looking slightly better

EWWWW I have no desire to try bullet proof coffee, I don’t know the idea of it just grosses me out.
    Good luck tomorrow!!

      05/05/2018 at 7:58 am

I was really grossed out by it as well but decided to give it a try. I was really surprised that I liked it

That’s great that your team is back in for the Napa Ragnar! I love both of your tri suits – best of luck with your race! And thanks for coffee 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 7:59 am

I am so excited for Napa! Thanks for stopping by today

  4. Marcia says

    05/05/2018 at 7:22 am

Oh I hope the rain holds off for you! My first tri that had an OWS it rained so hard. We had a massive lightning delay and I hoped the swim would be cancelled. No such luck. I’m typically a total rain wuss when it comes to the bike and it poured buckets on that bike course. It was scary and I was extra careful on those turns but I lived to tell about it. You’ll be great!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 8:02 am

I know I can ride in the rain but I just might not be as fast on the bike. I can’t do anything about it so I just have to go with the flow!

  5. Kimberly Hatting says

    05/05/2018 at 7:31 am

WOOT!!!!! 😉 I’m excited to hear how the tri goes. Best of luck tomorrow. Regarding which tri suit to wear… I still say, go pink or go home 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 8:03 am

Thanks crossing fingers the weather improves. Still have not decided what to wear they are not the most flattering. They kind of make the legs look like sausages lol

  6. Coco says

    05/05/2018 at 8:55 am

I think the weather will be perfect and the rain will hold off until you’re done! I really like both kits — you can’t go wrong.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 4:08 pm

thanks so much fingers crossed on the weather. Maybe next year for you??

  7. Kim Westrich says

    05/05/2018 at 9:25 am

Good luck tomorrow! I hope it doesn’t rain.

Both tri suits are awesome, but I’m partial to the pink and black one. It reminds me of cherry blossoms 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 4:09 pm

Me too on the rain and yes kind of does look like Cherry blossoms 🙂

  8. Kristen says

    05/05/2018 at 10:36 am

    I love that pink outfit!
Just can’t try the bulletproof coffee
, liquid calories just seem to make me more hungry 🙁

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 4:09 pm

I always felt the same about drinking calories. I think it’s the sugar in drinks that does it and not the fat. Who knows though!

  9. Jennifer @ Fit Nana says

    05/05/2018 at 10:39 am

I love bulletproof coffee! I don’t drink it all the time but it’s like a treat when I do. I, too, was surprised by how delicious it was. Frothy, foamy, creamy. It’s like the things dreams are made of. LOL

Fingers crossed that the weather is cooperative during your tri tomorrow! Have you decided which one to wear? They’re both cute but I’m a fan of the one on the right. I love flowers.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 4:12 pm

Yes the Bulletproof coffee was way better than I expected! I am leaning towards wearing the red and black outfit. I’m excited!

  10. Laurie says

    05/05/2018 at 11:23 am

The coffee sounds amazing! I have heard of it before, but now I think I have to try it. I have never done a Ragnar, but I would like to. I just don’t want to be in charge of the organizing.I am doing a 24 hour relay next weekend with 3 other women. Looking forward to it, should be fun!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 4:15 pm

The organizing is time consuming for sure but the races are a blast. Hope you enjoy yours next weekend too! Look forward to hearing about it.

  11. Hannah says

    05/05/2018 at 1:17 pm

I like cream in my coffee so I figure butter is just one step further….I still haven’t tried bulletproof though. I’m too lazy to stick my coffee in the blender!

Good luck on your tri tomorrow! Hopefully the weather cooperates.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 4:18 pm

I dont’ have it in me to try to make it in the morning but it was nice to try out on a coffee date.

  12. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    05/05/2018 at 1:18 pm

I like the suit on the right! I hope the rain holds off for you. Sure, you can’t control it, but you’ve still got to plan for it, right?

Good luck! I predict you’ll do better than you think you will.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/05/2018 at 4:19 pm

Thanks Judy I sure hope so!

I hope your tri went well! You couldn’t have gone wrong with either of those cute kits. I like both but the floral prob looks great on!

Good luck on your Sprint Triathlon. I know you will do great. I have been wanting to try that bullet proof coffee but it sounds like an ordeal to make.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/06/2018 at 3:26 pm

I have no idea how to make it myself!

  15. Lisa @ Mile by Mile says

I’ve never tried bulletproof coffee but I agree its probably not something I would make for myself at home regularly anyway. Hope the tri goes well!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/06/2018 at 3:26 pm

Agreed on the coffee! It was a fun race full recap coming soon

I’m not sure if I’ve heard of Bulletproof coffee before, but I do sometimes stir in a little coconut oil. Makes my lips feel so good. LOL

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/06/2018 at 3:28 pm

Ha ha I guess that’s a great reason to drink it 🙂

  18. Denise @ runheartfit says

Girls on The Run sounds like such a great thing! Love to see kids being active.
I have a friend who has done the Napa Ragnar. She loved it. Ragnar doesn’t appeal to me. I like to get my race done and get on with the rest of my day. I admire those of you that do them though.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/06/2018 at 8:28 pm

They are lots of fun but I would not want to do it all the time. It’s fun about once a year!

Oh, GOTR! 60 girls! I have 18 and it is out of control! Have fun with your 5K! We have ours in a month. It will be bittersweet because it is my last season coaching for a while! I hope the tri went well!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/06/2018 at 8:31 pm

I know our team is so big! I love all the girls though! Good luck with the rest of your season and your race
