I am definitely not a New Year’s resolution girly. The word itself just seems to have a negative connotation to me. What I am a fan of is honing in on the habits that suit me and help me continue to move towards a healthier version of myself. About that “word of the year”, read on to catch mine and why I chose it.

My Anti-Resolution Resolutions and 2026 Word of The Year
And my roadmap for 2026.

What I’m Letting go of in 2026
I’m letting go of unrealistic expectations for myself. These come from both external pressures like social media, news and even some “friends” as well as from within. Adding to that, I’m letting go of comparing myself to younger versions of myself. Ever catch yourself saying something like, “yeah, I should…”. Me too and yeah no more of that and the guilt that can come with it.
Taking with me
Daily movement is a part of me. I feel off when I don’t move my body in some way. Strength training has become such an integral part of my longevity plan and that will continue 4-5 times a week. I also believe that feeling stronger all around has done wonders for my self confidence. I’ve switched up my overall nutrition and tweaked a few things so that’s a work in progress.
I’m grateful for

I’m so grateful to have the most supportive husband who takes amazing care of our family. I’m grateful for our beautiful ever growing and thriving family. I’ll be gaining a son-in-law soon! I’m so very thankful for The best group of women I’m lucky night to call my friends. They are always there for me in good times and hard times.

This year taught me
I’m much more resilient and stronger than I give myself credit for. I have a fantastic support system that I don’t know what I would do without. Life is short and it’s crucial to find the joy in everyday. And finally, you are never too old to learn something new. I’ve been enjoying learning how to play mahjong.

I’m manifesting
I’m embracing the many seasons of life and working on savoring the one I am in vs mourning a past version.i’m appreciating finding joy in the everyday. I will continue to build the best version of me that my future self will thank me for.

My word of the year-LONGEVITY
Practicing the habits that will help me live a longer but more importantly healthier life. I’m leaning into all the information I’ve learned from longevity gurus such as Peter Attia as well as my own longevity doctor who is continuously tweaking my regimen. There is no quick fix or magic pill. Longer “Healthspan” is the sum of so many small, daily habits. That’s my plan and I’m sticking with it! Do any of this resonate with you and your plan for 2026?

Yes, this ALL resonates with me! I love it. We need those daily habits that will give us a long “healthspan.” And- letting go of comparing ourselves to our younger selves is HUGE. The thing is- I think we idealize our younger selves too much and focus on things that aren’t that important (like, a flatter stomach). What about being smarter, wiser, more compassionate, even healthier because we’re seeking out all the right information and working harder at it? In so many ways we could say we’re even better than our younger selves. Anyway… onward to 2026! Sounds like it’s going to be an amazing year.
BTW, I thought about this comment and wanted to make it clear that when I mentioned “a flatter stomach” I was talking about MYSELF. Not you. Lol.
ha no worries I got ya!
yes learning (and I am still learning) not to compare myself to my younger self is huge for me. Many of the silly things that mattered so much to me at my younger age, no longer seem important
This all resonates with me so much! I love your approach of focusing on habits and ‘healthspan’ rather than rigid resolutions. Letting go of the comparison to younger versions of ourselves is such a powerful shift—it’s so much more rewarding to focus on being the best, strongest version of who we are right now. Your word of the year, ‘Longevity,’ is a perfect anchor for 2026. Thanks for sharing this roadmap!
thanks Cat that’s my plan and I’m sticking to it
I’m all about sticking with what works and making small tweaks! I feel like over the last 2 years I’ve gotten into some good routines that I want to continue and expand on this year.
Figuring out what works for you at different stages of your life is key
I love this so much. Focusing on what make life better and healthier is a great way to approach the year.
I think so too thanks!
While resolutions can be great, I’m of the opinion to move forward with goals instead. I think it’s great to toss out what didn’t work, do more of what did, and have fun along the way.
Heres to a great 2026!
that is exactly my approach
Longevity is a fantastic word to focus on. Remembering that we’re in it for the long haul and not just the moment is so important. And not comparing ourselves to our younger selves is huge!
It is hard to do!
