    • Now that we are officially into summer, it seems appropriate to talk about taking care of our skin in the summer heat. I’ve always been pretty diligent about my skin care regimen however now that I am not 25 anymore, I am trying to be even more conscious. I know surprise right?!
  • Here are a few of my Summer Skin Care Do’s:
    • 1. Exfoliation- Removes dead skin and brings back that summer glow.
    • 2. Moisturizer-equally important in the summer as it is in the winter months.
    • 3. Masks-I love a great mask! Just makes my skin feel softer and fresh. Plus it’s always fun to walk around like this.
    • 4. Water-I love my fruit infused water in the summertime and I can always tell I feel so much better when I am fully hydrated. Plus, my skin looks better too.
    • 5. Sunscreen- I am the first to admit that I have been a little lax in the sunscreen department the last few years. I can definitely see the little brown spots on my face and I do not like them. I am really going to try to be more mindful of putting on sunscreen for my outdoor activities. Next month’s post will focus more on that.
    • 6. Bronzer- I love my summer glow but know it’s not so good for me. I use bronzer all year round but rely on it quite a bit in the summer months.
    • 7. Lips-Don’t forget to take care of those lips. Mine get pretty sunburned if I don’t apply a chapstick with spf.
  • This month I am linking up with my friends-Fitness Mom Wine Country, Brie Hemingway & Fit Mama Love to bring you our 2nd giveaway from our Puritan’s Pride Summer Series. One of you will win this basket full of Puritan’s Pride Skin Care goodies. I was provided samples in exchange for a review however all opinions are my own. Enter Rafflecopter below. Let’s see what we have here:
    • I am loving the Organic Manuka Honey Facial Mask (pictured above). It goes on smooth and I really felt like my skin was cleaner and softer after use. I plan to keep it up once a week.
    • The Coconut Body Lotion is my favorite product in here. It just smells like summer and who doesn’t love that?!
    • I am still working my way through all of the Puritan’s Pride products and so far-win! I was provided with all of these products to test in exchange for a review however all opinions are my own.

It’s winter down here in South Africa at the moment, so for us it’s all the winter’s skin woes at the moment: Dry skin, chapped lips, etc. Great tips!

I’m also always trying to be more diligent about sunscreen, but it’s just so hard when you’re outside sooo much! Looks like a great giveaway…I’d love to give some of these a try!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 12:40 pm

It is hard but I am trying too. I admit I do like my tan. I am in Hawaii so it’s even harder 🙂 They are great products thanks for entering.

Love the face mask! 🙂 I need to take better care of my skin…I usually forget to wash my face before I go to bed!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 12:42 pm

    06/26/2015 at 5:55 am

Haha–you know I love my post long run face mask! How else am I supposed to time my post long run bath? And always always sunscreen and moisturizer during the summer. I may slack at other times, but you better believe I’m a good girl during the summer months.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 12:45 pm

I love the post workout face mask as well and take it right into the shower for the steam. I am trying to be better with the sunscreen but in Hawaii it’s hard!

  5. Coco says

    06/26/2015 at 6:46 am

I use a face cream with sunscreen, make up with sunscreen, and then real sunscreen if I’m going to be outside. It’s been years since I’ve used a mask though!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 12:48 pm

Oooh face masks are great especially after a long workout and then I like to wear it in the shower. Thanks for entering.

  6. Marcia says

    06/26/2015 at 7:06 am

Looks like great products! I agree being sufficiently hydrated does wonders for the skin. So does cutting way back on sugar.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 12:51 pm

Yes totally agree! And I’ve been enjoying the products myself. Thanks for entering. 🙂

  7. Renata says

I make sure to wash my face thoroughly every night to get off any residue and makeup to avoid infections and keep my face refreshed.

I love masks and am in search of a new one so thanks for the recommendation! I’m a sunscreen freak because I’m pretty pale naturally, so that’s my main beauty product as of late. Hope you have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 1:00 pm

I love to wear the mask into the shower to get a nice steamy effect. Thanks for entering and it’s hard not to have a great weekend in Hawaii!

  13. Mary Long says

    06/26/2015 at 10:03 am

My skincare tip – I always make sure my moisturizer and makeup foundation has SPF in it or add it myself. And I drink a ton of water.
I don’t use masks only because I have not found one I like. I do mix up a scrub with coconut oil or olive oil, sugar and fresh lemon just and zest. It smells so good!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 1:15 pm

Love the smell of the fruity scrubs too. Drinking lots of water is key for me too. Thanks for entering! good luck

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 1:27 pm

  17. Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 1:28 pm

Me too but I am trying! Really trying. 🙂 thanks for entering.

Loved the article and love facials as well! Do you ever make your own facials? If so, would love to know which one is your favorite.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 4:56 pm

I haven’t made my own facials yet but good idea!

  20. Sarah says

    06/26/2015 at 3:06 pm

My usual skin care is all over this year with the crazy weather changes we have been having here. I think summer is finally here and it is sunscreen, sunscreen, and more sunscreen… clearly in our house we need a large gallon size pump of it.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 4:56 pm

I am trying to be better with sunscreen myself this year.

  21. Artney @ My Pretty Brown says

    06/26/2015 at 4:18 pm

I’m “old-school” when it comes to my skincare thanks to my Mom/Grandmother. I use Dove and Pond’s cold cream (green jar – scoop out) when I feel like I need a really good cleanse or after wearing makeup–if it’s too hot, I won’t wear it, I’ll just use a good moisturizer like Cetaphil.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 4:57 pm

My grandma used to use all of the Oil of Olay products and she was gorgeous!

  22. Natalie says

    06/26/2015 at 6:21 pm

Suncreen is a must and I would say don’t forget to apply to your neck and hands too!!
    I always need a good eye cream…
    These products look great!
    Happy weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 7:10 pm

I know my feet burn if I forget to apply it there

  23. Debbie says

    06/26/2015 at 6:42 pm

Anything shea butter. I love it.
I’m using a body lotion from shea butter from here. On my always dry feet, I use Body Shop hemp lotion. Life savior!
I’m here from Fit & Fashionable Friday.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 7:13 pm

I love the smell of Shea butter too and also put it on my feet. I remember your post about calf stretching from last week. Mine are so right today!

  24. Hollie says

    06/26/2015 at 8:42 pm

Great tips! My grandfather passed from melanoma so I am all for the sunscreen and I usually try and wear a hat too. Thanks for the tips… I need to try and exfoliate. Sometimes I am just plain lazy when it comes to my skin care.

BTW- I saw your GOTR badge on the side and love that. Are you a coach?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/26/2015 at 9:20 pm

I am a gotr coach and love it! how about you? I am trying to be better with sunscreen but I really like my tan. I know really bad!

  25. Heather says

    06/26/2015 at 10:42 pm

my tip is always moisturize after showering! i make my own with a combo of coconut oil, shea butter, almond oil, and beeswax

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/27/2015 at 2:42 am

ooh I like that combo! Thanks for entering 🙂

  26. JIll @ Champagne for Everyday says

    06/27/2015 at 12:33 pm

Sunscreen for sure!!! L’Oreal came out with a new line last year called Advanced Sheer Silky SPF 50 and it’s like nothing is on my face when I wear it. I love Coppertone Clearly Sheer to spray on my arms and legs everyday on top of lotion, after the gym just for walking to and from work. I’ve used the Desert Essence lotion before and it smells like a DREAM!!!!

  27. Farrah says

    06/27/2015 at 1:33 pm

Staying well-hydrated, using sunscreen, and moisturizing are definitely my top 3 skin care tips! :]

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/27/2015 at 9:31 pm

Those are good ones! I plan on using lots more sunscreen once I get back from Hawaii

  28. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    06/27/2015 at 2:27 pm

I usually apply sunscreen after I shower & reapply some before running, too. And I try to make sure it’s not right before I run, so I have for it to absorb.

Plus always wear a hat/visor & sunglasses! I wear them when I walk the dogs, too.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/27/2015 at 9:32 pm

That’s a great strategy! I hate feeling sticky when I run

  29. Salt says

    06/27/2015 at 8:27 pm

Great giveaway! I always notice a HUGE difference in my skin when I’m more hydrated in the summertime. I love fruit infused water too. 🙂
