Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. I am taking advantage of our pool and swimming into August to keep cool and keep up my cardio while also starting a new 5 day strength program on Peloton. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness.

Weekly Run Down Swimming Into August
Sunday-power walk + lap swimming
We awoke to nice gift of a cooler morning. I headed out on a power walk with a friend and hit the pool in the afternoon for some lap swimming. I always forget how much I enjoy swimming and plan to do lots of it in August.

Monday-tread walk + full body strength and core
I had a very Monday Monday balancing a few crises and home issues. It started with my daughter calling me at 6 am not feeling well and then the landscaper hitting a hose to something and water flying everywhere. Alas, I did get in my workouts.
Tuesday-full body strength + core + power walk + lap swimming
After a much better night’s sleep, I was ready to take on the day without any new crises to manage. I got in that second lap swimming session late afternoon,

Because I am in a swimming state of mind this August, here are a few fabulous reasons runners should add swimming to their routine this summer.
Wednesday-Core + full body strength + power walk
After another 91 sleep score from Oura, I was ready to take on the day. My full body Peloton class had 4 sets of squat jumps and 4 sets of devil presses. Admittedly, not my favorite exercises to do. I pushed myself to complete them and I felt darn proud of myself and super strong. Pushing out of your comfort zone has such powerful benefits. Made this last minute IG reel and was rewarded with a comment from Peloton-win!

Thursday-planned rest day
I joined my mom, sister and niece for an outing to help her pick out a dress for her upcoming Bat Mitzvah. It was fun to be included but long day! I got in a core and stretch class to end the day.
Friday-core + full body strength + power walk + lap swimming
It was a full assortment of activity over here today-just the way I like it!. I finished Rebecca’s new 5 day express strength program this week. It Is 5 days of shorter (20 m) classes but more intense and no warm up. They are perfect for a busy summer! I plan to repeat it next week.

Saturday-core + barre + foam rolling and lap swimming
After completing 5 days of strength this week, it was a rest from my weights. I had a goal of getting in 3 swim sessions this week and ended up with 4.

It was nice to be home for a whole week this week! I will be on the go again part of next week.

great job meeting and even exceeding your swim goal! I can’t imagine how it is to work out when it’s that hot. but you do it! nice job this week.
I def need to have my AC cranked up in the house and swimming has been so nice
Your pool workouts are a great way to be active and refreshed at the same time!
I hope your daughter is feeling OK.
she Is feeling better thanks
I am loving strength followed by swimming right now
I wish I liked to swim, because I love being in the water. I made it back to the pool last week for a Fluid Running sesh, which felt great.
Looks like a nice week of workouts for you! Nice shout out from Peloton.
I am really surprised that you don’t like swimming! I could really see you being quite good at it
Ooh, that strength program sounds great. And, swimming! Back in the day, when I was in my late 20s and early 30s and set all my running PRs, I was running AND swimming. It was the most successful phase in my running career. Swimming is great. And, the perfect activity for a hot and steamy summer.
I agree! When I was training for Tri races and did lots of both, I felt fab. Of course, being so much younger helped too 🙂
Great job with al that pool time! Lots of great non-swimming workouts as well 😉 I saw the Peloton shout-out, that’s a huge compliment!! Looks like you or walking friend has a vest, too…you should begin getting a commission on all your referrals!
It’s funny, I see tons of women now walking around the hood with the vests on! Perhaps I have influenced them 🙂
I’m in awe of all those swimmers.
Not me. At all.
I hear I’ll just miss you in NYC. I’ll be there Thursday and Friday.
Yes I am seeing Cari on Wednesday. I will be there Thursday but I think I am booked!
I don’t get there until 6 pm Thursday. if you are free for dinner. Text me.
How great that you’re complimenting your workouts with swimming! I am such a bad swimmer and admire anyone who can swim.
Looking forward to where your next adventure takes you!
I bet you could learn to swim!
Good job getting extra swim sessions done this week! It is a great workout and I should do it more. Do you listen to music when you swim? If so, do you have any recommendations on good swimming headphones? I find swimming to be a bit boring and need some additional motivation!
funny you should ask-I just tested out a pair of h2o waterproof headphones and I really like them. I will email you a link!
Thanks for the reminder to incorporate more swimming. I have access to a pool now and really should take advantage more, esp. in this warm weather!
I bet you would love it! Too bad there are no Peloton swim classes!
I’m sure it was nice to have a travel break. But I’m also sure traveling is the best, so you will be excited to be back at it.
So glad you can incorporate the pool in so many workouts. Again, our pools are boiling hot here so not a great option at the moment. Sigh.
Yes it is nice to travel a lot and also nice to be back in your own bed!
How lovely to have access to a pool this time of year! What a great way to exercise. Well done!
I am really enjoying swimming right now!
