Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down today. This is about the time in the middle of a training block when I start to get a little anxious. I working hard to trust the process. I know it works and I just have to believe it.

Weekly Run Down Trust the processĀ
Sunday-5.5 miles
Well, the best-laid plansā¦I had visions and high hopes of doing a nice long run in Miami. While we had warm and sunny weather on Friday, it rained the entire weekend. You know that I am not afraid of running in the rain however, I awoke to lightning and thunder so thatās a no-go.
So, I had my first treadmill run in years. I donāt even have a picture to prove it. It was awful! Kudos to you all who do your runs regularly on a treadmill. It was torturous even with my Peloton class playing. I canāt find my groove or settle into my pace. Moving onā¦
Monday- core + mobility + upper body strength + Peloton cycle
Back home and back on my routine of Monday morning strength and cycle. We got home late last night and I am always eager to get back on my schedule.

Tuesday- 6 mile run + stretch + coreĀ
As much as I complained about my cut back week last week, I know it was good for me. I felt strong out there today and ready to take on some more mileage this week. It helped that we had some springlike temps in the 40s for our run. To me, thatās just perfect!

Wednesday-core + barre + upper body strength + stretch
One of those days with repairman visits that kept deterring my workouts. A little less than my usual but I got it done.
Thursday- 4.5 mile run + stretch + mobility
Todayās workout had me doing 4, 5, 6 & 7 min intervals at half marathon pace. Right now that is about a 10 minute mile for me. I would be lying if I said I was not questioning how I was going to run at that pace for 2 hours. I am working hard to trust the process.

Friday- modified rest day
I moved my run to Saturday this week due to the weather. Today, was just some stretching and core. I also got a great massage.
Saturday- 9 mile run šāāļøā + stretch
I was really glad I moved my run to today. It was gorgeous out in the high 30ās to low 40ās with lots of sun. Perfect run temps. Running miles is hard. I feel like that jump from 8-10 miles is a lot. I am glad that I have 5 more weeks to practice. While I am committed to ātrust the processā of training, I am finding it hard to believe I will be able to hit the paces on race day.Ā

Sunday- stretching and recovery cycle class on the plan
I am a little off schedule but a recovery Peloton cycle class sounds good!

Good for you. I wonāt even try to run in the treadmill.
My half is in one week. Yikes. I know it will be warm and all my runs have been in the freezing cold. So this one is just for fun.
Looking forward to seeing you in NYC
I am sure you will do amazing as always! You are definitely ready
Yes, Iāve been having to do some TM runs, but only an hour. Iām really enjoying my new space and that certainly helps. Youāre doing great with your training! I think you will surprise yourself at your race!
This is around the time that I start to wonder how itās going to all come together!
welcome back! yes to trusting the process. it can be so hard, but we have to do it. you will be race ready for sure! Nice job on the treadmill run ā they are so hard mentally!
They are so hard mentally! I just canāt find my gait the same way
Ugh Iām sorry the Miami weather was not the best. What can you do. I really love my treadmill shoes. I swear they make me faster and the miles just click away. Itās a long cultivated habit I guess. Yes, trust the process!
If I ran on it more I am sure it would feel more natural. But ugh, not my thing!
Sounds like your training has really progressed well! I totally know how painful treadmill runs are⦠Iām SO grateful I have been able to get outside for my recent runs. Enjoy your Sunday:-)
Treadmills are not for me!
Great job getting things done and keeping a good attitude. Itās hard when you have to move things around, but you didnāt miss a beat. I canāt wait to hear how youāre race goes. Iām vicariously living through everyone else right now.
Thanks I am sticking to my schedule and moving along!
Itās funny my half marathon pace is the pace I ran for the Jingle All The Way 15K and I ^still^ have a hard time thinking I can sustain itāmind games, mind games!
Sorry your trip to Miami was rainy and strormy. I just did that 4/5/6/7 run on my tread and donāt know how I could have done it outside. š
mind games for sure! Funny, doing it outside seemed really natural. You are better running on the mill. I just canāt find my gait
Once again, i apologize for the crummy weather while you were here! The only weather deterrent to running really is lightning, and you got some (and itās not even our rainy season!) Oh well.
I think everyone questions how theyāre going to hit their paces on race day. Itās true you just have to trust the process. Iām excited to find out how it all works out for you!
I am officially over my crappy Florida weather š 5 more weeks until my half so I still have some time
As grateful as I am to have a treadmill, I only use it when absolutely necessary so I hear you! Itās always good to get home after a trip. Weāre on our way home now from almost a week away.
Treadmill running is only in case of extreme emergency! š
Iām glad you got some good running weather back home, but sorry to hear about your weekend weather and having to use the treadmill. Iāve always disliked them and only used one once to try running shoes in a shop. Good luck with your training, Iām sure youāll do fine on race day.
Treadmills are only for extreme emergencies!!
Itās good to be away, but itās also so great to be back. Sorry about the storms ā Florida is just getting slammed lately.
Iām over it but annoying none the less
I think treadmills other than my own are hard! I guess itās just that Iām so used to mine. I often look forward to my treadmill runs because I like the TV entertainment! I can completely relate to your concerns about extending that race pace. It is hard to believe sometimes the race day magic will happen. But yes, you will get there š
Hope we both do!!
You know Iām with you on those treadmill runs. Iām grateful that I have one for those times the weather doesnāt cooperate but after an hour I really start to struggle. I think itās such a mental game more than anything else.
Yes, it sure is!
Yeah, that 4/5/6/7 ladder was an interesting one.
Like you Iām trying to trust the process because I believe Matt ad his team know what theyāre doing, but itās HARD. I mean a Half should be, but you know what I mean.
The weather has definitely helped us
I definitely know what you mean!
Itās funny ā I havenāt had access to a treadmill for a couple of years now and I miss it. I usually love running outdoors more but for some training runs the treadmill is just perfect.
I just canāt do it!!
I once got caught in a thunderstorm while running in FL and I seriously thought I was going to get struck by lightning and die. So good call! Obviously I didnāt know it was going to happen when I set out.
Whether you hit your paces or not, youāre out there & doing it & and thatās the reward!
Saturday was so cold and windy here ā the next day was so much nicer. Great job Deborah!
The weather down there is iffy for sure!
Ugh! Thatās such a bummer that it rained the whole time you were in Miami, but it sounds like you made the best of your time there!
It was super annoying but I am now over it! š
What a bummer on the lightning and thunder! But way to go toughing it out on the tread.
If only we could control the weather!
