Waiting on The Snow…Weekly run down

thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week there was a lot of panic and speculation about the giant storm that we may or may not be in the path of. I did my best to get outside as much as possible. Here’s a peek into my week.

Weekly Run Down

Sunday- mobility + core + lower body strength + power walk

We woke up to a dreary day with intermittent flurries. I eased into my morning with a mobile and core class. This was the second time I took this lower body class and those Bulgarian split squats on a bench were so tough! That means I will need to take it again this week. After lunch, I met a friend for chilly power walk.

Monday-Peloton cycle + mobility + core + tread hike

Today was more of a cardio focus for me. It felt good to get back on the bike for a longer class with some arm intervals.

It was an exciting night watching our Indiana Hoosiers win the National Championship!!! Both of our kids attended IU and once a Hoosier always a Hoosier!

Tuesday-core + full body strength + stretch

Today’s strength class with Rebecca via Peloton got a little spicy! I think I’m going to feel those lunges tomorrow (in a good way).

weekly run down

I met some friends downtown for lunch and I guess we were too busy chatting to take a photo. Who am I? After that, I headed to get a laser treatment on my face. I’m in full wedding preparation mode over here. You may not see my face for a few days!

Wednesday-45 min Pilates/core + walk

Today was a planned low key day after my laser treatment yesterday. I am not supposed to sweat to help with the swelling. It’s actually much better than expected. A long Pilates class and a leisurely walk was perfect. I spent a long time in my closet organizing and purging. It’s a never ending process.

Thursday-upper body strength and power walk x 2

I really liked the structure of my upper body class today. Later, I had power walks with 2 different friends back to back. Needless to say, I got a lot of steps in today ahead of the gigantic storm and frigid temps headed our way. While we are due to get the storm on Saturday evening, I decided to hit the grocery store today and it was already a zoo!

Friday-standing core + full body strength

This was a tough combo and I was feeling good post workout. Although I had already braved the grocery store, my husband decided he wanted a few more supplies for the weekend.

Saturday-upper body strength + core + outdoor walk + stretch

We woke up to the predicted single digit temps. I know I won’t be able to get outside for walks for a few days with the now expected snow and then ice. This motivated me to suit up and brave the cold to get in some steps today. I get so antsy when I cannot get out for walks.

Are you in the path of this big storm? We typically do not do well with more than a few inches of snow around here. The ice on top of that is going to really disrupt things for days.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I think it’s already turned to sleet here, although the foot prints Scooby made at 6:30 am are fully covered in more snow.

Glad your recovery from your laser treatment is going well. I had to avoid sweating Friday for a different reason — they were still fixing a water main break on our street!

    Stay warm today!

What a disappointing storm! I was hoping to get out with my snow shoes or yak tracks. It is not inviting at all!

I woke up at midnight and there still wasn’t any snow on the ground, but by 4 AM I could see the ground was covered when I peered out the window. I heard sleet on the skylights earlier, but its turned back over to snow now. I’m going to head out for a walk in a few minutes while the snow is soft and hasn’t gotten slippery yet. Hope it stops soon!

I was all over the Hoosiers win even though I should have been cheering for Miami since they’re in the ACC with VT. Oh well! 😉 I love that the UI coach came from JMU and the programs had such a remarkable turnaround!

It is definitely a disappointing snow storm! I was hoping to get out for a snow shoes walk or yak tracks but it is just gross out with the sleet. Off to the Peloton it is

Our snow is coming later. But we used to it.

Still sick so I’m just relaxing and reading.

    Stay warm.

Fingers crossed you all stay safe and warm! It’s crazy none of the precip hit Iowa, though we have had our share of vortex temps and wind. I can totally relate to your feeling antsy if you can’t get out. I just make myself get out, even if it’s a quick 10-minute lap around the block. No treadmill here (I need to rectify that situation), but I have the elliptical and my trusty stairway to keep my “steps” in check.

Yeah usually I can brave the elements but the sleet and ice is no fun at all! I will survive 🙂 It’s nice to have indoor options for sure

Our snow is coming down, but I don’t think it’s going to reach as much as they predicted. And, I’ll probably have to drive to work tomorrow. Boooooo! I agree – getting out of the house for a little bit is always nice, even if it’s for a little bit. I hope you aren’t snowed in!

We’ve had a light dusting of snow–I’d much rather have that than sleet. Stay safe!

I hope you’re healing well after your procedure. Looking forward to the big reveal!

It’s finally starting to slow down and hoping it’s not too icy. I had a laser treatment that I’m hoping will help get rid of some of my brown spots from the sun. It’s just red an little peeling. My skin should look a lot smoother in another week

Well, it was 83 degrees here and while I don’t wish for extreme cold and snow, I feel that 83 is a LITTLE warm for January! I had a hard long run because of it.
Sounds like you had a great week- those strength classes sound spicy, for sure.
You are going to look amazing for this wedding!

Sounds like a great week with various classes, but what’s the weight of your dumbbells in the picture? They look HUGE!

I hope you stay safe and warm through this winterstorm!

I think we ended up with at least 9 inches in Philly – the worst part is when the snow stops and the cleanup begins! I know it’s going to be hard to move around outside for the next few days so I’m grateful to have indoor workouts at the office. I don’t look forward to that first commute back in though…

Nice job with your workouts! I’ve been trying to do more core but I still need to stay consistent!

Oh, you are all bundled up! We are getting cold weather, and maybe even some flurries, but nothing like what you will be getting (maybe!)

Stay warm and have fun with the continued wedding planning!
