Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. We had a little surprise extended vacation in Aruba due to the issue in Venezuela. We were completely safe the entire time. One day of air travel closing the entire Caribbean on a busy holiday weekend wreaked some havoc. We enjoyed a few extra days of island life.

Extended Vacation! Weekly Run Down
Sunday-full body strength + core + walking
We moved to a different hotel yesterday and I now have a small but much appreciated gym to use. I’ve been missing my strength workouts the last 2 weeks and it felt so good to get back to them. Other than that, it’s another beautiful day in paradise.

Monday-morning power walk + upper body strength + core
It’s a bit like Groundhog Day here! Now that I have gym access, I am perfectly find with a little extra island time.Feels great to be able to pick up heavy things again!

Tuesday-morning walk + lower body strength + core + stretch
Yes, I’m still in Aruba and enjoying our last day here (hopefully going home tomorrow). I took advantage of the gym to get in a good lower body strength and core before heading back out to the pool.
Gotta love how Peloton classes are always an option! I’m now on my 6th book of the trip!

Wednesday-morning walk + core and fly home!
I got in one more sunny morning walk in before finally heading back home. We all love it in Aruba but after 18 days I’m ready to come home.

Thursday-core + upper body + hike + walk
I was super happy to get a good nights sleep in my own bed! It was so great to get back to my home gym and my heavy weights. Spent the rest of the day doing laundry and grocery and errands and trying to figure out what day it was.
Friday-Peloton cycle + lower body strength + tread hike
It feels good to get back into my regular schedule again. Later, we watched our Indiana Hoosiers continue their winning streak and make it to the finals! Go Hoosiers!
Saturday-Tread Hiking Bootcamp + core
What a challenging combo of cardio and strength! I loved this hiking bootcamps that had alternating sets.

Happy new year to you all!

Welcome home! What a wonderful place to get “stuck” for a few extra days, but I’m sure you were thrilled to get home in your own bed. Your New Year’s card turned out great – so many happy memories on there!
What a great win for the Hoosiers!
We are so excited for the Hoosiers!
Wow, what an extended vacation. indeed! I can’t believe how long you were there for – glad it all worked out and glad you’re finally home! sounds like you are already back in the swing of things. nice job!
I loved how you managed to make the most of your extra time in Aruba. The mix of walks, strength, and core sessions feels perfect.
Reading six books on the trip sounds so restful!
yes it was a relaxing few weeks!
Sounds like you made the most of being stranded on an island! 😛
Glad you got so many books in–care to share what you read?
yes I read a lot of great books!
Dan Brown-secret of secrets
Michael Connelly- Proving ground
Briana Labuskes-the Lies you wrote
John Grisham-the widow
De Mille-Tin Men
All were very good!
Oh my gosh, glad you finally made it home, although being stranded in paradise is kind of a dream —especially when paradise added a gym. 😉
Love your New Year’s card — lots of great 2025 memories!
thanks yes it was great for me but the kids had to take off extra work days which are challenging for them last minute.
Oh darn! You had to stay in Aruba a couple extra days! ; ) I can see how it was nice to finally get home to your own bed and gym though.
We’re rivals now! We’re rooting hard for the Hurricanes down here. Should be a great game.
Happy New Year to you as well!
shout be a great game!
I suppose there are worse places to be stuck but can imagine you were ready to get home. It’s good you were able to get some workouts in as well. Welcome home!
thanks it was ok for us but our kids were not expecting to take off extra days of work
welcome back../ not a bad place to get stuck.
fine for us but tougher for the kids and their work schedules
I’m glad you made it back home safely, but a few extra days in paradise was probably manageable 😉 I love your card! I finally got mine back this afternoon (finally!) so I have that task on my to-do list now.
You truly made the best of being stuck!
we sure did
I’m glad you were able to get home safe. While i”m sure it wasn’t ideal, I’m glad you were able to make the most of it.
It was fine for us but the kids were stressed about having to miss work
I’m glad you got home OK, and that you clearly didn’t run out of books (I always take my Kindle on holiday and that has hundreds; I have run out of books on pre-Kindle holidays!).
you having the kindle alon is fabulous!
