Weekly Run Down Extended Vacation!

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. We had a little surprise extended vacation in Aruba due to the issue in Venezuela. We were completely safe the entire time. One day of air travel closing the entire Caribbean on a busy holiday weekend wreaked some havoc. We enjoyed a few extra days of island life.

Extended Vacation! Weekly Run Down

Sunday-full body strength + core + walking

We moved to a different hotel yesterday and I now have a small but much appreciated gym to use. I’ve been missing my strength workouts the last 2 weeks and it felt so good to get back to them. Other than that, it’s another beautiful day in paradise.

Aruba 2025

Monday-morning power walk + upper body strength + core

It’s a bit like Groundhog Day here! Now that I have gym access, I am perfectly find with a little extra island time.Feels great to be able to pick up heavy things again!

Tuesday-morning walk + lower body strength + core + stretch

Yes, I’m still in Aruba and enjoying our last day here (hopefully going home tomorrow). I took advantage of the gym to get in a good lower body strength and core before heading back out to the pool.
Gotta love how Peloton classes are always an option! I’m now on my 6th book of the trip!

Wednesday-morning walk + core and fly home!

I got in one more sunny morning walk in before finally heading back home. We all love it in Aruba but after 18 days I’m ready to come home.

weekly run down

Thursday-core + upper body + hike + walk

I was super happy to get a good nights sleep in my own bed! It was so great to get back to my home gym and my heavy weights. Spent the rest of the day doing laundry and grocery and errands and trying to figure out what day it was.

Friday-Peloton cycle + lower body strength + tread hike

It feels good to get back into my regular schedule again. Later, we watched our Indiana Hoosiers continue their winning streak and make it to the finals! Go Hoosiers!

Saturday-Tread Hiking Bootcamp + core

What a challenging combo of cardio and strength! I loved this hiking bootcamps that had alternating sets.

happy new year weekly run down

Happy new year to you all!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Welcome home! What a wonderful place to get “stuck” for a few extra days, but I’m sure you were thrilled to get home in your own bed. Your New Year’s card turned out great – so many happy memories on there!

What a great win for the Hoosiers!

Oh my gosh, glad you finally made it home, although being stranded in paradise is kind of a dream —especially when paradise added a gym. 😉

Love your New Year’s card — lots of great 2025 memories!

Oh darn! You had to stay in Aruba a couple extra days! ; ) I can see how it was nice to finally get home to your own bed and gym though.
We’re rivals now! We’re rooting hard for the Hurricanes down here. Should be a great game.
Happy New Year to you as well!

I suppose there are worse places to be stuck but can imagine you were ready to get home. It’s good you were able to get some workouts in as well. Welcome home!

I’m glad you made it back home safely, but a few extra days in paradise was probably manageable 😉 I love your card! I finally got mine back this afternoon (finally!) so I have that task on my to-do list now.
