Weekly Run Down Feels Like Summer

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week it finally feels like summer around here. The humidity has rolled in to stay.

Weekly Run Down

Sunday- “walk for hope” + foam rolling

I met up with some local friends to do the “walk for hope” at the Philadelphia Phillies stadium. I’ve never been on the actual field before and it was fun to walk the bases. I got in a lot more steps walking the city and having brunch with friends before heading back home.

Monday-Peloton hike + core + glutes and legs strength + afternoon walk

Back home and ready to get back it full throttle. I got in my normal Peloton workouts and then an afternoon walk while catching up with Cari on the phone.

Tuesday-Peloton cycle + upper body strength + core + afternoon walk

It’s been a hot minute since I hopped on the bike for a cycle class and it was just what I needed today. I followed that up with Week 3 of Tunde’s upper body program and some core. Later, I met a friend for a sweaty walk. Yes, summer humidity has arrived in full force.

Wednesday-double power walk + weighted core + upper body

I met a friend for a morning power walk with our weighted vests then headed home for some weighted core and upper body strength. My lower body is still sore from Monday’s workout so I pushed that off until later in the week. That afternoon, I met up with 2 other friends for another sweaty walk. Hello summer humidity.

Thursday-3.5 m run/walk + mobility

Today summer rolled in with a vengeance along with our first 90 degree day. You all know how much I love that (not). Anyway, it was a slow run with lots of walk breaks. I took the opportunity to take my new Nathan hydration vest for a test run. Full review coming soon! First impressions are great! Feels like summer indeed!

Friday-morning power walk + glutes and legs strength

I got in a quick but effective power all and glutes and legs strength. The rest of the day was spent at the hospital where my dad was having an ablation. It was successful and he is recovering well. Sitting in the hospital is mentally exhausting but glad I was there with mom. It was a great early Father’s Day gift to have my dad on the mend.

Saturday-3.5 m power walk

I wanted to get out before the rain rolled in and get some steps in. The next few days are not looking optimistic.

weekly run down

Happy Father’s Day to those dads, granddads, stepdads etc!

bummer about your upcoming weather — will the rain be severe you think? I don’t love summer storms because they can be intense!
I’m interested in the weighted core workout- I was just thinking i need to add some weights to my core routine!

I really enjoy the weighted core classes and I often do them with an ankle weight as well. WE had a strong storm last night but this week is probably just a lot of dreary rain

Looks like you had a great week of workouts. How fun to run the Phillies stadium bases at the end of your race. We ran the bases at the Frederick Keys stadium when we finished the Frederick Marathon – that was cool. Especially since we used to take our sons there for games when they were little.

Hope your dad continues to do well. Those ablations can work wonders.

Walking the bases sounds so fun. I’d love to do that at Wrigley!

Glad your dad is recovering well. He deserves extra pampering today!

Sounds like a great week, and yes sitting in the hospital is exhausting. Glad your dad is okay. Oh and that “Walk for Hope” sounds really fun! Hope you get some sunny breaks in the upcoming days. We get a lot of thunderstorms this time of year, but in between storms it’s sunny and steamy. Definitely my 4th favorite season of running ; )

I’m glad to hear your father is doing well with his recovery. I bet he (and your mom) appreciated having you there. Gosh, you seem to be getting all the rain, while it keeps missing my area. We are in a water-ban (of sorts) right now due to lack of rain…no lawn-watering, car-washing, and limited use of in-home stuff (for showering, dishwashers and laundry machines). It’s crazy!

Seems like we have had so much rain!

We’ve had humid weather recently, the south of England got big thunderstorms on Friday but we didn’t!

Oh, weighted core sounds fab! May need to start my peloton membership again! Though I am loving in-person personal training. Well done toughing out that heat and humidity!

I loved my in person training for so many years. It is nice to have options for both
