Woke up to another super humid morning and truth be told was not really looking forward to my run. Once I got going with my crew, we decided to “go that extra mile” and visit a local rose garden. Totally worth the extra sweat time. The roses were in full bloom and could not be more gorgeous. I was wiped the rest of day!

Friday- biking 22 miles

Woke up to a gorgeous and slightly cooler day. What better way to celebrate the first day of summer than with a bike ride along the river in DC. Beautiful views of the monuments along the way to the Reagan National airport and back. Hello summer!

Saturday-Welcome Run 3 miles + 30 min Yoga

Summer welcome run for new members and veterans. We do these every few months to try to encourage our newer members to come out. A low key run followed by coffee and breakfast. Fortunately we had another cooler morning and it was perfect. Followed that up with a Peloton yoga out in the yard. Great day all around!

Sunday- sleeping in and rest day?

My daughter and I have a mani/pedi planned and may just take the day off.

What are some highlights from your week? Thanks for joining Kim and I today! See you tomorrow for meatless Monday.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I was wiped by today so definitely enjoying my day off. I am less busy in the summertime so more time for exercising 🙂

Great minds!! I gave myself a quick mani before my run this morning. Even with gardening gloves yesterday, ugh…things were looking nasty on the fingertips afterwards LOL YOU had another solid week!! I love your big workouts on Mondays, great way to kick start the week 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/23/2019 at 12:16 pm

Definitely a great way to start the week. I always feel like I indulge more on weekends too with eating out and such. Have a great rest of your Sunday

The weather was all over the place this week. This weekend was amazing! I need to find that rose garden – so lovely! Enjoy the time with your daughter.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/23/2019 at 1:22 pm

Yes you must bike right near the rose garden and not even know it’s there. This weekend was gorgeous but the week ahead looks super hot and steamy

That mani/pedi with your daughter sounds like a wonderful way to spend a Sunday. As always, I am amazed at the variety of your workouts. You get a lot done in a week. I think it was definitely worth it to go the extra mile to visit the rose garden. Good decision!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/23/2019 at 1:27 pm

Yes the extra mile is always worth it! Thanks I do try to mix things up especially in the summer time when I am not training for anything

    Those muscles are popping!

Our weather continues to be pretty bipolar but Summer sure is rushing in — expecting some high 80s next week. And rain, of course.

Enjoy your rest day & time with your daughter. So many pretty pictures from your week.

You had another awesome week of workouts! I love the run that you did on Saturday – a really great way to make newer members feel welcome and who doesn’t love coffee, food and chit-chat after a run?!

We have a bunch of ladies who join and then never come out to join us. It’s a great way to show them that we are not scary and intense. I hope the new people come back soon

The view on the bike ride looks amazing! Do you have a lot of trails that you can ride long distance on, or is it mostly roads? I’m a nervous rider on roads and I don’t do it very often.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      06/24/2019 at 3:37 pm

We have fabulous trails to ride on all the way from DC out almost 50 miles into Virginia. That’s where I ride. Not a fan of riding on the street either I am too nervous

  21. Jenn says

    06/25/2019 at 7:27 am
