thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. This week had me training to NYC and flying to Chicago for quick visits to each place. It was all about Broadway, birthdays and engagements. Here’s a peek into my week!

Weekly Run Down Broadway, birthdays and engagements

Sunday-Core +full body strength + power walk + swim

After yesterday’s lighter day, I was ready to get moving. Since I will be traveling later in the week, I also wanted to front load my strength workouts. I started week 2 of Rebecca’s 5 Day Strength Express before heading out for a nice walk. Later, it was reading by the pool with a lap session thrown in.

Monday-power walk + full body strength

It was a little cooler this morning so I took my walk first and then hit the weights. The AC in my home gym is not working (because there cannot be a week with something not breaking) so I had to carry all my heavy weights to my bedroom to workout. I feel like I should get extra credit for that!

Tuesday- power walk + full body strength + swimming

The temps are heating back up this week and it was a super sweaty walk this morning. I am still working out in my bedroom so no pics but it did happen. Later, I hopped din for some more laps in the pool.

Wednesday-train to NYC + lots of walking

I hopped onto an early Amtrak to NYC so that I could catch a matinee of &Juliet on Broadway. What a fabulous show-so glad I was able to see it. It was super hot and humid walking around the city. Later, I met my favorite New Yorker for dinner and drinks. A good time as always.

Thursday-full body strength + core + walking

I hit the hotel gym for my morning strength and then headed out for a nice walk down to the Village to meet my husband at our favorite NYC pizza spot-John’s of Bleeker street. It did not disappoint! That night we attended a birthday party for one of our best friends.

Friday-fly to Chicago + Peloton walks

After enjoying my NYC bagel for breakfast, we headed to airport to fly to Chicago. I got in a few Peloton walking classes in the airport and that was it for today.

We met up with our future in laws and daughter for dinner in the Chicago suburbs. All of us were so busy chatting we forgot to take photos! Who am I?!

Saturday-Peloton full body strength + core + tread hike

I got in an unremarkable hotel gym workout before heading out to meet my daughter and her fiancé. We squeezed in a visit to do her registry at Crate and Barrel. Later, her future in laws hosted a lovely engagement party at their home.

With my quick trip to Chicago I was unfortunately not able to see Wendy or any of my other Chicago peeps this time.

What a whirlwind! Where did you go to eat? Just curious–there are so many good restaurants near Highland Park. My sister lives very close to there, so we meet them often for dinner. You all look great! What a fun party!

We got in Friday and went to their country club for dinner-Briarwood and then the party last night was at their house

How are you liking RK’s express?

I just posted on your site-I do like it it’s quick for a busy summer but oh so tricky hard. I was surprisingly sore from it. Give it a try!

Wait- I saw Wendy mention Highland Park. Is that where you were? That’s the town where I grew up!!! I haven’t been back there in years, but I’m hoping for a trip to see it again while my son is at Northwestern.
Anyway- sounds like a whirlwind of a week! So many fun things. And you saw Cari! Nice job keeping your Peloton streak alive.

Sounds like a busy, though fun-filled, week! And, yay for meeting-up with Cari! Your trek with the heavy weights (to your bedroom) made me laugh. I’ve hauled some of my weights up from the basement on occasion, and it’s quite a workout all on its own!

      08/17/2025 at 6:07 pm

      Yes it sure is!

    Oh what a fun week!

I’m really seeing less and less things appealing about home ownership. It’s all great until everything starts breaking down, and then it’s just tons and tons of money. Ugh.

I miss Crate and Barrel! And NYC pizza, and bagels, and shows! And Cari, too!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/17/2025 at 6:08 pm

It does seem like there is a lot of upkeep lately around here!

I thought crate and Barrel was everywhere! And yes NYC pizza is the best anywhere

What a fun and busy travel week! Thumbs down to the lack of AC in the workout room. I hope it gets fixed soon!

      I hope so too!
