See ya later May!

This last week of May seemed to go by rather quickly and ended with some actual in person socializing. Let me fill you in!

Monday-Peloton boot camp  + core + 10 min arms + 20 min cycle class

I took my workout out to the driveway for a change of pace. I tricked myself into a little running with the Peloton boot camps. I swear between my running in circles in our cul de sac and my workout selfies, my neighbors have to think I am just nutty!

See ya later May

Tuesday-Outdoor biking 18 miles + 10 min stretch + 10 min core class

I decided it was time to get out on my bike and brave the people. I also decided it was time to bike with my best biking buddy. While we kept a safe distance from each other, it was so fantastic to have some social contact again. I was so happy to see her and to be out on my bike again.

Wednesday-30 min HIIT ride + 10 min arms + 2 mile afternoon walk

Enjoying the HIIT cycle classes more and I’ve been experimenting with different instructors.

see ya later May

Thursday-Elliptical 45 min + 10 min core + 2.5 mile walk

Woke up to pouring rain and decided to hop on the elliptical for a change. Caught up on “Dead to me” on Netflix. Not loving the 2nd season as much. Rain stopped and popped out for an afternoon walk.

Friday-40 min Peloton + 10 min arms + 10 min core

Quick and sweaty workout today. It was one of my besties birthdays which just so happened to coincide with our area moving in to phase 1. I had her over for lunch in the backyard and ordered from our favorite salad place. It felt so amazing to do something normal again. You all know how much I’ve missed my friends!

best boyfriend| Niagara Falls Ragnar part 2

Niagara Falls| Year in Running

Also reminisced about our last Ragnar relay race which was exactly a year ago. Good times, great friends and our celebrity run in with Jerry Seinfeld. The look on his face when I tried to explain to him what a Ragnar was was priceless!

Saturday- Rest Day

I finally took that rest day that I know I needed. I lounged by the pool and read on a gorgeous day. Dinner was a treat! One of our favorite restaurants opened up with outdoor, tailgating style table service. I even put on real clothes and makeup for the first time in months. A taste of normalcy.

February Runfessions

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

What a great idea with the outdoor restaurant! That’s exactly how I imagined it!
I’m so happy for you that you were able to do this.
Also thank you for setting up the RunBet game. I’m in!

      05/31/2020 at 10:34 am

I was so happy to get out with the family after all of this time. Glad to have you back for the 2nd runbet “see you there”

I’m so glad you’ve got to see your friends! I’ve been running with one three times and one once, and today I have already met up with one friend at the park and am meeting another this afternoon (a good way to get some walking miles in, too).

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 10:35 am

That is fantastic to hear! Glad you are all doing well

What a month, right? Here’s to calm, peace, and some togetherness! I loved your dining out photos.

      05/31/2020 at 10:36 am

      Cheers to all the above!

Yeah, season 2 of Dead of Me is just not grabbing me. I’m 2 episodes in and I feel like they’re just rehashing season 1 with nothing new happening. Oh well. It is so good to be with other people again.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 10:44 am

Yes kind of disappointing w season 2. It is good to be with other people!

  5. Kimberly Hatting says

    05/31/2020 at 9:57 am

I think I’ve only seen the first episode (ever) of Dead to Me…maybe that would be a good series to latch onto for awhile. We finished Schitt’s Creek and are in search of something lighthearted (well, sort of LOL). Ozark just hasn’t sucked me in..yet. Glad you were able to get out and do some in-person socializing! We had some friends over for a bonfire Friday night…felt kind of like old times.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 10:54 am

The first season of dead to me is better. Also check out imposters that was one we both liked. Ozarks gets good. WE also just watched Defending Jacob on Apple which was excellent

  6. Marcia says

    05/31/2020 at 10:24 am

I love how that restaurant fashioned some outdoor tables! Hooray for some bike miles and seeing friends! I hope to be able to both soon. Glad you took a rest day too!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 10:56 am

The rest day was really long over due. Not sure why I do that to myself!

  7. Cari says

    05/31/2020 at 10:42 am

    Cute skirt!
And so glad you were able to see your friends.
If our neighbors don’t think we’re a little bit crazy are we even really living?
Going to investigate whether runbet wll record my walk better than it used to. If it is, I’m in.

  8. Kim G says

    05/31/2020 at 10:53 am

I love that you were able to get back to some normalcy this week, and the dinner last night looked like a lot of fun!

I loved the first season of Dead to Me and was planning on starting season 2 today, but I heard from another friend as well that it wasn’t as good as season 1. Darn, I’ll still give it a try though.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 11:01 am

It’s still entertaining but not as good as season 1. It was really nice to get out last night and feel somewhat normal again

  9. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    05/31/2020 at 12:15 pm

Glad you were able to have some things that were a little more normal this week! Makeup? What’s that? That’s cool the way the restaurant did that.

Hurray for getting together with friends, right?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 12:57 pm

It felt weird to do my makeup again but I felt normal for the first time in ages

  10. melissa says

    05/31/2020 at 12:20 pm

Hooray for seeing friends! I think I watched an episode or 2 of Dead 2 Me (season 1) but that’s it. I tend to start Netflix series and then forget about them 🙂 I usually only watch them when I’m on the treadmill OR if it’s something my husband are both watching after the kids are asleep.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 1:00 pm

WE are watching more tv than ever now so I am always looking for new shows

  11. Debbie @ Deb Runs says

    05/31/2020 at 1:46 pm

The parking lot dinner out sounds fun, just for the sake of finally getting out. Bill and I just went out for a ride and stopped at Carolina Brothers’ Barbecue for lunch on our way home. It was nice to do something normal again!

We haven’t started season 2 of Dead to Me yet. We binge watched season 1 last year on Mother’s Day…

    Have a great week!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 2:15 pm

It was fun to just to get out and feel sort of normal again

  12. Coco says

    05/31/2020 at 2:01 pm

You had a fun week! My husband isn’t on board for any socializing yet. Maybe once he has to go back to work anyway? Glad you finally got out on your bike!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 2:16 pm

We definitely did not talk to any other people and our table was way far away from the others. I was nervous before we went but felt much better once we got there

  13. Astrid says

    05/31/2020 at 2:10 pm

You did great on the workouts! Glad you were able to bike some and socialize at the same time. Is this linky just for running or any type of workout posts? I’d love to join in but I can’t run due to my disabilities. I do walk and use the elliptical though and you’re totally motivating me t o try some strength training too.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 2:16 pm

Feel free to join in with any type of workout activity. It’s a great way to meet some other bloggers and friends

  14. Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says

    05/31/2020 at 2:11 pm

Well I gotta say, you look really great without makeup on (or very little?)! If I don’t make an effort to do something, I have no eyebrows or eyelashes. The curse of being blond I guess. I’m glad you got to socialize this week. I didn’t think I missed it much, but I really did. So nice to reconnect with friends IRL. Great workouts this week!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 2:17 pm

Thanks for the compliment and yes it sure is nice to reconnect with friends

  15. Darlene S Cardillo says

    05/31/2020 at 3:44 pm

I just finished Dead to Me. I loved it.

Not sure what to watch next so I have been walkingandr reading instead.

    Loved that restaurant idea.

I have been seeing friends from a distance. It sure beats ZOOM.

We may start phase 2 on Wed whatever that means.

    I need a haircut!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 7:27 pm

Yes real life is so much better than Zoom! Like you, I am a very social runner by nature. Try Imposters its a few years old but there are 3 seasons and it’s good

  16. Claire says

    05/31/2020 at 4:00 pm

You have been getting lots of workouts in, great work. Rest days are so good when you know you have worked for them, aren’t they 🙂 Thanks for hosting.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 7:28 pm

      Yes they sure are!

  17. Michelle D. says

    05/31/2020 at 4:42 pm

Yay for a touch of normalcy! A night out…even in a restaurant parking lot is a step in the right direction for sure. And seeing friends live and in-person really does the soul good doesn’t it?!

Thanks for the link-up – Have a great week!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 7:29 pm

Oh it sure did feel amazing!

  18. Laura says

That’s so great you were able to get out and socialize! An outdoor tailgating style dining sounds wonderful for summer.

The tents and outdoor dining looks so nice! Glad you were able to have lunch with your friend too. It’s interesting how it feels so different than Zoom.

I didn’t know there was a second season fo Dead to Me! Will have to check it out.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 7:34 pm

Yes it feels very different and happy!

  20. angela @ happy fit mama says

    05/31/2020 at 6:52 pm

Doesn’t it feel amazing to see friends again? Conversations just flow so much better in person. I am absolutely loving how a lot of our restaurants have found ways to have outdoor seating to be open. I hope this sticks around even if it is in a parking lot!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/31/2020 at 7:34 pm

Yes it was so great to see my friends and who would have thought that eating in a parking lot would feel so good
