Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down this week. Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. It’s been a hectic week around here! Both kids are home yay. Among all of this craziness that is 2020, I indeed have much to be thankful and grateful for.

Weekly Run Down Thankful and Grateful

Monday-Peloton 35 min cycle + core + stretch + 2.25 mile walk

Starting the week off with a strong cup of coffee and a strong workout.

thankful and grateful

Tuesday-4.75 mile run + stretch

Started out super chilly in the high 30’s and ended up being a nice sunny day. Warms up quickly when the sun is out. Perfect for running. Our running trail has had a ton of construction lately. A runner has to do what a runner has to do!

thankful and grateful

Wednesday- 45 min Peloton strength (core + full body) 2.5 mile walk

[you may also like ultimate gift guide for the peloton obsessed]

Thursday- Virtual 10K Turkey Trot

It was my goal when I came back from my darn hip injury to be able to run a 10K today. Mission accomplished! Very thankful and grateful for my physical health.

My parents ended up backing out of my planned garage Thanksgiving. I totally understand but I was disappointed at first. We did a zoom happy hour with them and my sister’s family. We have decided to have a do-over Thanksgiving in July.

I am extremely thankful that my parents are safe and well at home. I am very grateful to have my kids home for our dinner. We had a really nice low key dinner. While I am not a pumpkin or pecan pie person, Chocolate mousse pie is the bomb. I Runfess I had some on Wednesday night too!

Friday- 45 min peloton cycle + abs and + strength for runners

Thanksgiving burn off! Had to get in one more cycle class before leaving for vacation tomorrow. I am sure going to miss my bike. I will have that set of 50# weights with me though. Ha!

Saturday- Travel to Aruba!

We are escaping the madness for a bit. More on this to come next week.

Sunday- not sure yet!

Maybe a walk on the beach!

While this Thanksgiving is not what we all would have wanted, I can’t complain. I am extremely thankful and grateful this year for all the blessings of health and wellness that our family has. Hope you all had a safe and happy Thanksgiving with your families. Thanks for linking up today.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Our Thanksgiving was low-key as well, and it was still a great day despite the small turnout at our dinner table. Thankful for Zoom and FaceTiming LOL Glad you made it to your destination…safely, I assume 😉

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving! So glad both your kids were able to be home. My cousin is in college and his whole house got COVID last week and none of them could go home (I’m just glad they all found out before they traveled or saw their families. ) Somehow he has still been testing negative but it definitely wasn’t worth the risk. Have a great time in Aruba!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/29/2020 at 4:33 pm

Yes I heard about some other kids in the same situation. It’s a good thing they offered testing for everyone before they left my kids included.

It’s been a year, hasn’t it? I am grateful for all the little blessings too. Our low key Thanksgiving was just perfect!

Enjoy the beach. I am so jealous!

It sure has been a year! I am very thankful that we are weathering it pretty well compared to so many of my friends. I am really glad to have the chance to get away for a while

Congrats on your Turkey Trot! I love the idea of Thanksgiving next July. Our governor has said that most of our state will have been vaccinated by then. Enjoy Aruba!

      Well I sure hope so!

Great work on your 10k. Great comeback. I am trying to get back into running after a bad year. Thanks for the inspiration.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/29/2020 at 4:47 pm

It is not easy but definitely worth it. Just take it slow. Interval running has really helped me

  6. Melissa says

We also had a relatively low key Thanksgiving and didn’t go anywhere. It was nice, but we have so many leftovers! Nicely done on your 10K!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/29/2020 at 4:50 pm

Ha yes lots of leftovers over here too

Thanksgiving was very low key. I did run 2 virtual 5ks. Love your outfit. I already ordered a hat and socks for next year. Hopefully it will be for a real trot.

I want a re-do of all my holidays.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/29/2020 at 4:52 pm

And how great is it going to feel next year to put on all of that fun gear!?

  8. Jessie says

Oh, the sunshine makes all the difference! Glad you had some nice miles this week. I like the idea of a Thanksgiving do-over. Will the same dishes taste as good in 90 degree weather, ha!

    Enjoy Aruba- I’m jealous!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/29/2020 at 4:55 pm

I don’t know how those foods will be in July but we will be happy to all be together for it -fingers crossed!

I will look forward to the Thanksgiving do over in July! Thanks and yes I will have to use the weights daily or I will never hear the end of it from my hubs 🙂

  15. Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says

We had a low-key Thanksgiving as well- a friend of ours who was recently divorced joined us (I didn’t want him to be alone on the holidays, I know how hard that can be, especially following the end of a relationship). Other than that it was really simple. My mom and aunt came to see us the week before but that was it. Looking forward to having a true family reunion next year hopefully! Enjoy Aruba! Sounds like the perfect getaway!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/29/2020 at 8:18 pm

Definitely many things to look forward to and appreciate more next year.

I just saw in IG that you made it to the sunshine. Looks awesome! We were talking about going to Mexico this past week, but it was not in the cards for us. Enjoy your tropical escape! That’s so great that you made it to your goal of a 10K.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      11/29/2020 at 8:32 pm

Thanks very happy to be here!

  17. Jenn says

    11/30/2020 at 1:31 pm

I’m sorry your parents backed out. I was pretty sure my mom would do the same, but they ended up surprising us and coming to our backyard dinner.

Yay for your 10K! It’s so great to come back after injury.

Aruba is going to be the best. Have so much fun.

    • Deborah Brooks says
