Weekly Wrap Memorial Day Edition

Jumping in to join Tricia and HoHo for the Weekly Wrap Memorial Day. I’ve got my next triathlon race next Sunday so I tried to fit in as many workouts as I possibly could stick to my plan (sort of) and get in a few last minute bricks. Here’s how this week went down.

M-30 m elliptical easy, 60 m strength training mostly arms and abs.

T- Tuesday 4 mile run with girls followed by a little group push up action. They are all too kind to always indulge me in the photo shoots. Skipped my regularly scheduled easy swim day.

Because all great runs start with a few push-ups, perfect temps and fabulous friends hope your Tuesday starts off at a great pace too 😜#mrtt #momstrong #motherrunners #squadgoals #summerscoming #runnergirls #choosetorun #love2run #runVirginia #skirtsports #beatyesterday #fitgoals #whmag

W-20 m elliptical, 90 m strength training and kickboxing. Finished off with a set of dead lifts on the BOSU one of my favorite moves. Always feel those the next day.

Weekly Wrap Memorial Day EditionThu- Another rainy day around here! I was supposed to do my last bike/run brick today but did not want to ride in the rain. Biked for 30 m inside the headed out to join my friend and great conversation. Love the runs where you know you might not have gone out if a friend was not waiting for you. After a few minutes the drizzle didn’t bother us at all!

Fri-Finally managed to coordinate a 14 m bike ride with my friend, Holly, pretty close to race pace. Headed off to master swim class after that. Thought we would get rained on again but it held out for us. Went home to bake cookies for my son’s friends that were coming to hang out. Boy can teenage boys eat a lot!

Sat- Really felt like I needed a do over of my bike/run brick. The hardest part of the tri race for me if running off of the bike. I set up little workout for myself based on  this workout below but the third run turned into a coffee :). Glad I got one more brick in before next week’s race. I then headed home to greet my hubs who just arrived back from an over seas trip.

Tri This| running|triathlon|cycling|summer training

I completely crashed on the couch for a nice long mid day nap. It was cold and raining again (sensing a pattern here?) and our pool plans went down the drain. I am really hoping that we can shake this super rainy weather pattern we have been in and have at least one nice pool day this weekend.

I’ve got another “take out make over” for you tomorrow for Meatless Monday-hope to see you there. Have a Memorial Day full of sun and fun! Randomly craving strawberry shortcake so might have to whip that up this weekend.

What foods are you craving?

The weather was quite rainy here all week as well, but luckily we got a break from the rain this weekend!

Great job getting in your workouts this week! I’ve never done a brick workout, but I can totally see how it’s difficult. I bet my legs would feel like jelly, especially after the biking many miles!

      05/28/2017 at 9:17 am

yes the legs do feel like jelly. I think it’s a great workout even if you are not training for a tri

It’s hard to believe all the rain so many of us have been getting this spring! Enough already!

Ton of bricks workout sounds like something Becky would throw at me if she were training me for a tri. Whew.

      05/28/2017 at 3:23 pm

You know I think you would like the workout even if you are not doing a tri. It’s a fun way to mix it up and you are already bike so why not?!

Craving chocolate. Always! I just had a yogurt bowl so not presently craving that.

Yesterday was glorious. Today was meh. Tomorrow will be rainy, and I’m hoping they’re right about the break in the afternoon so I don’t have to do another cold, rainy run. The part for the TM is not here yet (not even close).

I’ve always read that the run is the hardest part of tris!

The run is the hardest part for me always! I can’t seem to keep any pace. Hope with more practice I can someday. Hope your weather ends up better than ours rained out again

I have the perfect route to do that brick workout! I have a 5-mile route I use for most of my #5at5’s, and many 1-mile routes from my driveway. I’m tentatively doing a du in mid July (not yet registered), so this would be a great workout to get me in “du” mood 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/28/2017 at 4:42 pm

Yes it would be perfect! Happy training 🙂 I would like to do a du as well

With all my studio classes, I’ve been slacking on my weights lately. My solution this week is to try to make it to two OTF classes. Your brick workout sounds right on point!

      05/28/2017 at 5:52 pm

I do love my strength training as well and I think it makes a big difference for me in over all body shape that running alone cannot do.

I love that picture of y’all doing bench push-ups! I need to try some brick workouts but will have to get a new bike! I’m not sure where mine is since we’ve moved. Best of luck at your triathlon coming up! We both have pics running through puddles!! Lol!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/28/2017 at 6:52 pm

We do! I figured I was already wet so why not?!

Hooray for another tri week! You are killing it this season. I actually had some strawberry shortcake at a party on Friday. Berries are so good at this time of year.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/28/2017 at 8:53 pm

The berries are good this time of year. Thanks re the training. I am working really hard and see improvement on the bike but having a hard time getting those run paces up. just keeping moving forward right?

Talk to me about how much teen boys can eat! WOW. They are bottomless pits. I like your 5/1 brick workout. One round doesn’t take too much time. Mentally, that would make it easier I think. Anyway, I need to be doing some of those. Lately, I’ve been eating a lot of egg salad. And I like it warm, not cold. LOL. I got your message about hosting (we’d LOVE that!). Email your preferred July or August Sunday to [email protected] and I’ll get it scheduled. Thanks for linking, Deborah!

Just reading through your workouts makes me tired! GREAT job getting it all in this week and good luck in your upcoming race. I love that your group of gals is photoshoot ready 🙂 Lately I’ve been craving pistachios! It’s crazy. They’re so good but eat too many and things can get a little uncomfortable and awkward (… gas).

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/30/2017 at 3:34 pm

Ha yes photo shoot ready at all times!
